Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A young man, Asim Biswas, from Siliguri, staged a protest outside his girlfriend’s house in, demanding that she marry him. Asim and the girl had been in a relationship for four years. However, she suddenly stopped communicating with him, which caused significant emotional distress to Asim. In response, he took to sitting outside her residence, holding a poster with his marriage demand and their illicit photos and chat history.
Asim’s actions came after an earlier suicide attempt, which sources confirmed had been unsuccessful. Following his emotional breakdown and failure to reach his girlfriend, he decided to publicly stage the protest, which alarmed the girl’s family. They immediately contacted the Siliguri police, informing them about the situation at their home.
The police responded quickly and arrived at the scene to manage the situation. Upon their arrival, they engaged with Asim, explaining the seriousness of his actions and persuading him to leave the protest peacefully. Authorities confirmed that no arrest was made, and no further legal action was taken. The police managed to resolve the situation without escalation, and Asim was escorted away from the area without any further disturbance.
